Sometimes Windows just has to be reinstalled. Maybe you’ve had it for years and its slowed down to a crawl, maybe a virus has caused so many issues that the best course of action is to just backup the data and put a fresh copy of windows on. We can of course help you with this.

Screen Cracked, No Display or White Or Coloured Bars

This is also a very common problem with laptops. Screens often get damaged if they are dropped or sat/stood on. At other times, the light inside the screen just fails or another part of the screen becomes faulty. Fortunately we have negotiated a very good price for replacement screens with our suppliers allowing us to offer you excellent priced laptop screen repairs. The vast majority of screens can be replaced for between £80 and £99 inc VAT or less, and even better is the fact we can repair most of them same day! Laptop Wont Charge or Flickers on and off. Broken Power Socket.

A very common issue we see in the workshop is broken or loose power sockets. Common symptoms include laptop no charging, power light flickering or obvious physical damage to the charging socket. A lot of power sockets these days are actually on internal cables, however quite a few remain soldered to the board, we have all the equipment and skills to do a professional soldering job here at TechRescue. We can get hold of power sockets pretty quickly as well, but this job does tend to take a few days as there are far to many different sockets to keep in stock so we may need to order the part.

Overheating & Noisy Fan

If you use your laptop on a soft surface such as a bed, sofa or carpet then fan will almost certainly get clogged up with fluff and dust. Common symptoms are the laptop running hot to touch, the fan making a lot of noise or worse still the fan making no noise because its stopped turned as its got stuck! We would always advise you use laptops on a hard surface like a table or lap board, if however your computer already has issues we are here to help. We can clean out the fans, check heat paste is still OK and, if required, replace the fan.

Laptop Keyboard Replacement

Spilled something on your laptop? We can replace the keyboard and clean up liquid that’s got through, just make sure you switch the laptop off and remove the battery immediately.

Liquid and Water Damage

If you have just spilled something onto your laptop, the first thing you should do is make sure its switched off and then remove the battery if possible. If its possible to remove mop up the worst of the liquid, then do that. If it was spilled onto the keyboard, you can turn the laptop over and sit it in a tent shape in a warm place, this will help drain out the worst of it. There’s a good chance the laptop can be saved if prompt action is taken, the killer is if its left for any length of time and corrosion sets in. If you bring the laptop into us, when can take it apart and clean up the residue from the spill and clean any areas of corrosion that may have set in. We have a large ultrasonic cleaner (a proper one with pulse and sweep functions for those of you who are interested!) which we can use for particularly bad cases. Quite often the keyboard will need to be replaced in cases of liquid spills, but we can help with that as well. It is very likely, at the very least, that the data is going to be recoverable from the laptop, just don’t be tempted to turn it on while its wet!

Virus or Malware Infection

If you have strange pop ups, internet connection issues or your laptop is just generally misbehaving then give us a call. We can remove and clear up your system and get it running like it should. No Boot Device Found Or SMART Warnings

If you get a message saying no Boot device can be found or that there is a SMART warning then this often means your hard drive has failed or is in the process of failing. Getting your laptop up and working again shouldn’t be a problem for us and in 95% of cases we can also recover all your data, we do strongly recommend that you switch your computer off and leave it switched off until someone has had a look at it though.

Windows Wont Load?

This is a very common issue with both laptops and desktops, fortunately its probably just a software problem and shouldn’t cost too much to fix. We can normally return your computer to you exactly as it was before with all your data exactly where you left it.
