Even If You Have Been Told Its Not Possible
Most computer shops have some software recovery tools for recovering deleted files and may even be able to handle drives with very minor physical faults. When a drive is damaged, working on it without correct diagnosis and without the correct tools will almost certainly result in the drive sustaining further damage.
We receive a lot of calls from people regarding drives that they have previously been told are not recoverable, usually by their local computer shop. Sometimes this is indeed the case however in a large percentage of the cases the data can be recovered.
If your drive is clicking, not detecting, detecting as the wrong size or any number of other faults there’s a good chance your data can be salvaged
Computer Repair and Data Recovery are two very different things and your local computer shop almost definitely will not have the very expensive tools, equipment or knowledge to recover data from physically damaged drives.
