RAID Recovery

Recovery from a failed RAID array can be a complicated job. If you find yourself with a non-functional RAID array dont panic, it’s essential that you discontinue any attempt to access the drives as this may cause permanent damage.

RAID arrays come in many configurations, from stripped and mirrored to RAID 5 and various hybrid setups. Although in many cases RAID arrays are there to stop data loss, they are not fool proof and can and do fail.

NAS Box Recovery

We have experience recovering data from a wide variety of NAS boxes, including:

  • Buffalo Terastations
  • QNAP
  • Thecus
  • Netgear ReadyNAS

Often problems can occur when more than one drive fails at the same time or during the time when the box is rebuilding the array.  Its very important not to attempt any sort of repair or recovery on any of the individual drive.

You will most commonly find RAID arrays in Servers and NAS boxes. If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of having one of these devices fail, before doing anything further, we highly suggest you contact us.

Step 1

Phone, email or visit us for advice on what to do. We are happy to discuss what may have gone wrong, your options and the possible prices for recovery from your drive or device.

Step 2

Send us the drive or if you are located close by, then you can drop it off at our office. We recommend you use Royal Mail Special Delivery or another tracked courier service. Make sure the device is packaged well.

Step 3

Once we have received your device we will carry out an inspection and get back to you within 48 hours with a price for recovery. At this point uou can choose to go ahead or to ask for the device to be sent back.

Step 4

We will send you a file list of the data that has been recovered for you to look at and confirm everything you need is there. Upon confirmation we will take payment and return the data to you on suitably sized media.

Home & Business Users

Using the latest technology we have an excellent success rate on recovering data from your damaged drives and devices.  Whether you are a home user who has lost your photo collection or thesis or a business user who has lost years of vital documents and files, we are here to help recover your data at the best possible price while maintaining a superior service and success rate without cutting corners.

FIXED PRICE DATA RECOVERY

Once we have inspected your drive we will be able to provide you with a fixed cost for recovery.  Due to data recovery from physically damaged devices being complex and each case being different, we do need to assess it first before being able to provide a fixed cost.  We can however provide an estimate based on the most likely fault if you contact us for advice.

No Charge If Not Recoverable

If your device turns out to be too damaged to recover the data from, then we won’t charge you for our time attempting it.  More than 9/10 drives are recoverable, however there are always some that can’t be recovered from due to the extent of damage.

Keeping You Informed

You will get regular texts and emails informing you how your job is going, you can even approve a job with a simple message back to us.  You can pay the final invoice in shop or through our portal, perfect if you have sent a job to us by post. We are also always available at the end of the phone or in person at the office, you should never have to wait for than a minute or two waiting to speak to a technician directly.

What Should I Do If I’ve Lost Data or Suspect Something is Wrong?

The first thing you should do it stop using the computer, card or USB drive and turn it off. The longer you use it the less likely it is that the data will be recoverable. If a hard drive is making odd noises, has been dropped, running slowly or missing data then it likely indicates a problem. Contact us immediately for advice and we will be happy to discuss your options.

What’s The Process

We can provide you a fixed price, no obligation quote for the recovery once we have diagnosed what’s wrong with your drive.  We regret we can’t offer a fixed price quote until we receive your device but we can provide you a pretty accurate estimate based on your description over the phone, email or if you come to visit us at our office. We cost each recovery on a case by case basis.  We feel it’s unfair to offer a fixed price for all recoveries as we would end up charging people a lot for what might be a simple recovery.  Some companies charge a fixed fee, say £299, for a job that may only take an hour and where we would charge significantly less.  The other problem with Data Recovery companies offering a fixed fee is that they tend to cherry pick the easy jobs while rejecting the hard ones, simply telling the customer the drive is not recoverable.

What’s It Going to Cost

Prices vary according to what’s wrong and how long it takes to do the recovery. As a rough guide, most data recoveries are in the £79 – £349 Inc VAT Range. We can give you an accurate quote upon inspection of the drive or media. Many jobs come in at the lower end of the scale however if your drive has physical damage it may require replacement parts to be sourced and fitted in our clean air area and therefore prices may be higher, we will of course tell you this first. We will give you an estimate before carrying out the data recovery so you wont be hit by any unexpected costs. If we can’t recover your data there’s no charge! We advise all our customers to contact us first before going any further. We can normally give you a good idea what a recovery is likely to cost by speaking to you on the phone, so why not call us now on 01224 622312 and speak to one of our friendly members of staff.
