Computer Health Check

Just like your car, a service should be a vital part of your computer's working life.

Why put up with noisy fans, windows taking half an hour to load up and of course the risk of data loss?

Why should my PC have a Health-Check or Service?

  1. Catching a problem before i has time to cause any damage can often work out cheaper than costly repairs

  2. Improves performance and reliability

  3. Helps catch failing components before they can cause any data loss or overheating issues

What does a Heath-Check or Service include?

  1. Removal of dust and grime that inevitably builds up on the inside and outside of your pc

  2. Checking, cleaning and if required replacing of cooling fans on the CPU, Northbridge and Graphics Card

  3. Checking motherboard for capacitor damage (thankfully not a common problem anymore)

  4. Diagnostic testing of major hardware components including; motherboard, drives, memory and cpu

  5. Windows updates checked and applied

  6. Disk scan for any damaged sectors or corrupt files

  7. Scan for and virus or spyware infection

  8. Disk Cleanup to remove temporary files

  9. Defragmenting of hard disk to improve overall performace

  10. Assessment of what possible upgrades or alterations to increase performace and stability

How often and how much?

It all depends on how often and in what circumstances your PC is used. We recommend a service at least once every 12 months. Dust can be a major problem in both desktops and laptops, they can lead to overheating and costly component failure. Other leading problems include hard drive failure which can lead to all your data being lost if you havent been good and backed everything up. The tell tail signs of impending Hard Drive failure can sometimes be seen and therefore save you a lot of time in data recovery or worse still, loss of all your photos and music!

Good examples why you should have your PC Serviced regularly...

I have lost count of the number of people that have lost years worth of photos, enormous music collections and years worth of Thesis and Dissertation work. Many of these disasters could have been avoided if their systems had been serviced and advice on backing up data acted upon (Please Please Please Backup your data or a regular basis).

Other examples are systems clogged with so much dust and hair that vital fans have clogged causing overheating and resulting damange to large parts of those systems. These systems could have had an inexpensive service and saved the owners hard earned cash for something a bit more exciting.
