Here at TechRescue we carry out many computer repairs on laptops and desktops, a very common laptop series we see in our workshop is the HP dv Series.  These normally fail with either graphical corruption on the screen or simply stop turning on.
 
If you currently have a working HP laptop, check HPs website for a BIOS update that will help prevent your laptop from failing in this way. 
 
If you currently have a dead or dying HP dv or tx series laptop, all is not lost.  TechRescue should be able to recover your data and in many cases we can fix the known manufacturing fault that has caused such a large number of these laptops to fail.
